Hey new person! Welcome to the coach pony community. This is where I share my secrets of what it takes to build and grow a successful coaching practice – you are welcome to steal them :).
When I first thought about building my own coaching practice, I felt many WORDS.
Overwhelmed.
Tired.
Excited.
Scared.
Determined.
Pretty sure I was going to fail.
Determined not to fail!
Sick to my stomach.
Ugh.
Mostly I felt out of my depth.
I was successful in my career, but I knew I had basically zero skills in terms of building a coaching practice, learning social media, building a business, blah blah blah.
All I had was my coaching certification and a willingness to try.
What I dreamed about at that time was a place or person that would just take my hand and show me the way. I wanted people who got what it was like to build a REAL business. Not a business that couldn’t pay the rent or was just for vanity (or never got off the ground because of fear), but something I could be proud of, that would support me and let me realize my potential.
A REAL business.
I eventually found some help, different communities, good training (and some bad training), and I’ve gone from nothing in my friend’s basement, to a multi-six figure business that has won awards from Forbes, been featured in major publications, and most importantly – allowed me to coach some pretty amazing people to their goals.
But I’ll be honest…it was hard.
Really REALLY hard.
And some days, it still is.
As I grew my business and built my network, I found all the coaches I talked to mostly put their best foot forward. No one talked that much about struggles, or the journey, or what happens at each stage of the game. People mostly told one story of failure “oh, there was that time I did a webinar and made no money! But then I made a million dollars on my next one, l’ll show you how I did it for just $2,000” *sigh*
Success stories are great, but I wanted to know ALL of it – the good, the bad, the mediocre, and everything in between.
I wanted to know the realness of what happens behind the scenes.
I wanted gory details AND success stories.
(But not in a way that was hard to understand, too overwhelming, or too out of my reach).
And mostly, I wanted a community that would come with me on the journey. I didn’t want to be alone.
So…
